The following questions are ontological, i.e. answers to these questions are ontological theories, such as "Does theory exist in the scientonomic domain?", "What are the subtypes of theory?" etc. Ontological topics are first order descriptive topics.

There are several subtypes of ontological topics:

  • Existence questions: questions concerning the existence or a non-existence of a class. (e.g. "Does element decay exist?").
  • Subtypes questions: questions concerning the subtypes of a class. (e.g. "What are the subtypes of theory?")
  • Supertypes questions: questions concerning the supertypes of a class. (e.g. "What are the supertypes of method?")
  • Associations questions: questions concerning the relationships of aggregation, composition, or association of a class. (e.g. "What do methods consist of?").

Ontological questions are a subtype of descriptive questions, since all answers to ontological questions are descriptive theories. Ontological questions are first-order questions, since their answer answers are firs-order theories.
