This is a very welcome addition to the scientonomic ontology. For several years, we have been talking about epistemic agents taking epistemic stances towards epistemic elements, but the very notion of epistemic agency has remained unclear. Patton does a great job formulating the conditions for epistemic agency. Among other things, the definition serves as an important starting point for his discussions concerning individual and communal agents. It also helps him address the question of agency of epistemic tools. In short, I believe the modification should be accepted.

I agree with Hakob. The distinction between individual and communal agents as being distinct subtypes of epistemic agents, as well as the question Patton opens up with regards to the applicability of scientonomic laws to individual agents, are of critical importance and their strict explication has been lacking. In short, I too believe that the modification should be accepted.
