Can the category of pursuit be a subcategory of acceptance?
When theories are pursued, can this attitude in a community be accounted for as the acceptance of certain sub-theories or meta-theories? This question is to be understood as related to, but distinct from Pursuit and Acceptance, which instead questions whether a theory being Pursued correlates with eventual Acceptance or Rejection.
In the scientonomic context, this question was first formulated by Calahan Janik-Jones in 2018. The question is currently accepted as a legitimate topic for discussion by Scientonomy community.
In Scientonomy, the accepted answer to the question is:
- Pursuit is a distinct epistemic stance that is not reducible to or expressible through acceptance.
