What is the relationship between the process of acceptance and pursuit?

Many major, accepted theories tend to be 'in the running' for a time before they are accepted. Does a theory being Pursued have a correlation with its future Acceptance, or Rejection? This question is to be understood as related to, but distinct from Pursuit as Acceptance, which instead questions whether Pursuit can be captured through a certain kind of Acceptance.

In the scientonomic context, this question was first formulated by Hakob Barseghyan in 2018. The question is currently accepted as a legitimate topic for discussion by Scientonomy community.
